SEN. AQUINO REACTS TO NEW LAW SUPPORTING SAFETY NET HOSPITALS

SPRINGFIELD – A measure ensuring that safety net hospitals get the state and federal funds that they need was recently signed into law.
State Sen. Omar Aquino, D-Chicago, a member of the working group tasked with redesigning Illinois’ hospital assessment formula to improve funding adequacy and access to care, released the following statement:
“This law protects the most vulnerable people in Illinois and maintains thousands of jobs by ensuring adequate funding for safety net hospitals. Thanks to the work of a bipartisan group of lawmakers, hospitals in small towns and big cities across Illinois will receive more federal and state resources for providing care to Medicaid recipients. It was a privilege work with stakeholders to maintain access to health care for all by passing this law.”
