Community Outreach Manager / Intern Coordinator (Full Time Position)

Summary
The Community Outreach Manager / Intern Coordinator acts as a liaison to the local community for the State Senator. The Outreach Manager / Intern Coordinator is primarily responsible for executing regular outreach activities on behalf of the State Senator. These activities include coordinating public events (virtually and in person), creating content related to outreach activities, and building partnerships and relationships with community stakeholders on behalf of the office. Intern Coordinator responsibilities will be hiring, supervising, and delegating tasks to the interns.

This position reports directly to the District Director.

Essential Job Functions
Community Outreach

  • - Acts as the liaison for the State Senator including the planning and execution of all outreach activities
  • - Be the lead organizer of outreach events on behalf of the offices including: town hall meetings, facebook live events, educational events, public health events, holiday outreach events, and any other relevant events which either office is taking the lead on (ie: Paper shredding day, sos mobile office, vaccination events, pet vaccination days, block clubs, back to school events etc..
  • - Participate in local events representing the office. This includes attending resource fairs and other similar activities on behalf of the official.
  • - As necessary, act as a liaison to local and state officials and other stakeholders in the community to form effective relationships for the office of State Senator Aquino including:
    • - Staffing legislators during visits to neighborhood associations and other community stakeholder groups
    • - Canvassing businesses or the broader community to promote the office’s services or events
    • - Create content related to outreach activities in coordination with the Communications

Consultant including:

  • - Preparing content and drafting of district newsletters
  • - Updating website resources and events pages
  • - Social media promotion of events and outreach activity
  • - In collaboration with the Senator and the District Director set and monitor quarterly outreach goals that assess our office geographic reach, scope of services provided, and impacted participants
  • - Outreach to targeted areas of the Senate 2nd district
  • - Outreach to potential new district areas

Administrative Duties:

  • - Participate in Administrative Team meetings, planning, and general office procedure development
  • - Maintain data related to outreach activities and ensure it is transferred to relevant systems/databases including:
    • Sign in sheets & participant contact info
    • Reports of constituent participation
    • Ensure contact info allowed is entered into our contact list
  • - Other duties as assigned

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED

  • - High computer proficiency - specifically google platforms
  • - Ability to exercise discretion, independent judgment, and problem-solving skills
  • - Organized with thoroughness and careful attention to detail
  • - Very strong oral and written communication skills
  • - Reliable transportation
  • - Consistent and reliable work attendance
  • - Temperament to communicate with a variety of personalities in a tactful, pleasant, and professional manner
  • - Knowledge of office policies, practices, and procedures
  • - Knowledge of government offices and procedures is helpful to the success of the job
  • - Understanding and implementing Personnel & Policy Procedure Manual
